2 Weddings, 1 Weekend: Part 1

Posted on

Wow, what a weekend. I slept nine hours last night and I’m still feeling a little travel-burned. It was totally worth it—I had a lovely weekend celebrating the marriages of dear friends and relatives. I have three more days to rehydrate and rest up for part 2 of Chris’ sister’s wedding this coming weekend.

I’d been feeling under the weather last week, so the days leading up to Wedding #1 involved a lot of turmeric tea and green foods.

yay, turmeric tea—like drinking Indian food

Saturday’s wedding was a late-afternoon wedding at a country club not far from where my parents live, so the trip was easy. I took advantage of the earlier part of the day to work out, do homework, and eat lots of vegetables.

The wedding itself was so sweet. I teared up during the ceremony because apparently, that’s what I do. I had no idea I was a crier, but I just can’t help it! Especially seeing how happy my friends Matt and Jen were—the happy vibes totally put me over the edge.

The reception felt like a mini high school reunion in the best way possible. A lot of friends were in from out of town, and it was great to catch up with people I don’t see enough of.

The food was really tasty too. For starters there was salad of greens, portobellos, sun dried tomatoes, and some kind of cheese, and then I had the fish. It’s hard to go wrong with salmon.

pardon the blurry photo—too many champagne toasts

And of course, I left room for cake. I’m a big fan of red velvet cake and chocolate-covered strawberries, so you’d better believe I was a happy camper.

The evening wrapped up pretty early, which made it easy to catch a bus back to NYC. When we got home, I packed my bag and made breakfast for Sunday morning’s trip up to Boston…

At weddings, do you usually go for the chicken, fish, beef, or vegetarian option? What’s your favorite kind of cake?

I cry at weddings too, apparently! Don’t know when that started… I think when I started getting old enough to (potentially) be married…

I usually get the fish option… often the veggie food is just bland pasta.

Yeah, me too! I’m a little afraid to unpack what it means but hey…
