El Scorcho: Cooling Foods

Man, it is hot today in the northeast! We’re talking school closing, cooling stations, and heat advisories.

It's a good day for banana softserve

Hot days call for cooling foods. 100-degree days are not really the time to dig into a bowl of soup. Here’s a list of some foods that can help you feel cool from the inside out:

  • Fruits like watermelon and other melons, apples, pineapple, strawberries, grapefruit, bananas, tomato, and the like.
  • Veggies—especially lettuces, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower and water chestnut.
  • Cold foods like yogurt (frozen or not) and ice cream can be refreshing too, but keep portions in check.
  • And remember to stay hydrated!
